SC quashes NSA detention of Sambhal violence accused

The Supreme Court quashed the NSA detention of Mulla Afroz, accused in the 2024 Sambhal violence, and imposed ₹10 lakh cost on Uttar Pradesh government. The court ruled a police confession alone cannot justify preventive detention. Afroz had already secured bail in all six criminal cases. His brother welcomed the verdict and demanded an impartial probe.
