The circular logo on Indian Air Force planes called 'roundel' has changed four times since the commission of its first squadron in 1933. The roundel was initially red, white and blue but the red centre was removed to eliminate confusion with the Japanese emblem. The roundel was changed from the Ashok Chakra to the Indian tricolour in 1950.
