US to pay $850 mn of $5 bn owed to United Nations

US government will pay $850 million of the $5 billion it owes to the United Nations. Of the $850 million, $725 million will go towards its dues to the regular UN budget and $125 million towards UN peacekeeping operations in Haiti and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Trump has criticised the world body, while his administration paid nothing in 2025.
