Chairman and Chief Interventional Cardiologist at Ahmedabad's Apex Heart Institute, Dr Tejas Patel is credited with over 85,000 cardiac procedures. The 55-year-old performed 300 robotic surgeries before performing the world's first in-human telerobotic coronary intervention from 32 km away on Wednesday. Patel received the Padma Shri in 2015 and Dr BC Roy Award, India's top medical honour, in 2005.
