Google's Chief Scientist Jeff Dean is stepping down after 27 years to work on his AI startup Discovery Loop. The public benefit corporation will develop AI solutions for science and engineering. Dean, who joined Google as its 30th employee in 1999, helped build the company's core computing systems and led major AI efforts, including Google Brain and Gemini.
