Why are Delhi, Mumbai & Bengaluru shifting to underground spaces?

India's biggest cities are increasingly turning underground as rising land prices, congestion and limited space make surface expansion difficult. Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru are building tunnels, underground roads and metro corridors to add transport capacity without widening roads or disrupting neighbourhoods. This reflects India's growing urban population and the need for efficient mobility.
