TN to launch 1-gram gold ring scheme for newborns on Sep 28; procures 1.28 lakh rings

Tamil Nadu government, led by CM Vijay, has announced that its one-gram gold ring scheme for newborns will be launched on September 28. The government has procured 1.28 lakh gold rings for distribution under the first phase. The rings will be given to babies born in state-run hospitals. Each ring will have a unique serial number and tamper-proof packaging.
