Ex-Miss India and actress Pooja Chopra's mother Neera recalled how her in-laws asked her to end Pooja's life when she was 20 days old because she was her second girl child. "I was told every day to either end this child or leave her in orphanage," said Neera. She recalled leaving her husband's home with 21-day-old Pooja and elder daughter.
