Why can a person's credit score drop despite paying every EMI?

A person's credit score is based on multiple factors, not just timely EMI payments. Regularly using most of available credit limit each month can lower the score. Applying for loans from several banks or lenders within a short period can also reduce the score. Additionally, closing a credit card that has been active for many years can negatively affect it.
