Govt introduces Bill in Lok Sabha to rename 'Kerala' as 'Keralam'

The central government has introduced a Bill in Lok Sabha to rename 'Kerala' as 'Keralam' around two years after the Kerala Assembly adopted the resolution. The Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai introduced the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026 on Monday. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed in February the Union Cabinet's approval of renaming 'Kerala' to 'Keralam'.
