On Independence Day, the Tricolour is tied to lower part of flagpole, and it is raised by PM. This signifies the country attaining freedom from colonial rule. On Republic Day, the President unfurls the National Flag, which is tied at the top. It represents unfurling of new ideas and laws and is a mark of renewed commitment to the Constitution.
