ISRO hands rocket-building to private sector, to focus on research

ISRO is moving away from routine rocket-building as India opens its space sector to private companies. IN-SPACe chairman Pawan Goenka said private players and public-sector firms will increasingly handle launch vehicles, allowing ISRO to focus on advanced research, technology, science and exploration. The government also plans to invite bids for operating commercial launch pads within five years.
