The world’s longest expressway tunnel, the 22-km-long Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, has opened in China. Located on the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway, the tunnel was built over five years using advanced construction techniques. It has improved connectivity by halving travel time between Xinjiang’s capital Urumqi and Korla to about 3.5 hours, according to state media.
