New form of Aluminium that could replace rare metals developed

A team at King's College London has developed a powerful new aluminium compound capable of substituting expensive rare metals such as platinum and palladium. The highly reactive form, cyclotrialumane, consists of three aluminium atoms arranged in a triangular structure and can break some of the strongest chemical bonds. The structure also remains intact even when dissolved in different solutions.
