Rahul slams 'Manusmriti mindset' at Pune event, asks girls to 'smash patriarchy'

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, interacting with girl students at his 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' outreach programme in Pune, criticised "Manusmriti mindset" and urged girls to "smash patriarchy". He said women belong to themselves and not to their fathers, husbands or sons. Rahul called Manusmriti's prescription that a woman should remain under authority of male relatives at every stage of life "shameful".
