What happens to the body when a person consumes too much sugar?

Neurosurgeon Dr Prashant Katakol said that excess sugar is stored when the body cannot process it efficiently, leading to abdominal fat. Harvard Health, citing Dr Frank Hu, reported that the high added sugar intake raises heart disease risk. Consuming high amounts of sugar can also raise blood pressure and overload the liver, raising the risk of fatty liver.
