US Federal Reserve raises interest rates for first time since 2023

The US Federal Reserve System (Fed) on Wednesday raised its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points (0.25%), recording its first hike since July 2023. The move will raise its key rate to a range of 3.75% to 4%.The unanimous decision came as the Fed said inflation remains elevated despite economic activity.
