Rare hexagonal diamond that is harder than natural diamond created

Researchers from China's Henan Key Laboratory of Diamond Materials and Devices have claimed they have created the first pure samples of hexagonal diamond, a rare form previously found only in meteorites. The lab-made material shows slightly higher hardness and better heat resistance than conventional diamond, according to the researchers. Unlike cubic diamond, it has a hexagonal atomic structure.
