US startup tests cancer-detecting brain implant in three patients

US-based startup Coherence Neuro temporarily tested its cancer-detecting brain-computer interface device in three patients undergoing brain tumour removal surgery at Royal Melbourne Hospital. The implant is designed to detect tumour-related electrical signals and deliver stimulation to curb growth. Coherence aims to treat glioblastoma with a 15 to 18-month median survival rate after diagnosis.
