Former Australia batter Matthew Hayden has said that foreign cricketers, particularly those from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, tend to consider the IPL bigger than international cricket. Speaking on All Over Bar The Cricket podcast, Hayden said, "They do that [because] there is so much hype around it...It just takes over for the entire period of IPL."
