How much compensation can digital fraud victims get from 2027?

The RBI's new rules will allow victims of digital banking fraud to claim compensation of up to ₹25,000 from January 1, 2027. Eligible customers can receive 85% of their net loss or ₹25,000, whichever is lower, provided the fraudulent transaction does not exceed ₹50,000. The benefit can be claimed only once in a lifetime.
