Australia's competition regulator has sued Amazon's local unit, alleging unfair Prime subscription terms that allowed it to introduce ads on Prime Video. Over one million subscribers were affected between November 2023 and August 2025 without compensation. From July 2024, users had to pay an extra A$2.99 a month for ad-free streaming despite having paid A$79 upfront for an annual subscription.
