B'desh faces worst measles outbreak on record as deaths near 1,000

Bangladesh, which once came close to eliminating measles, is experiencing the world’s biggest measles outbreak, with 999 suspected and confirmed measles-related deaths reported since March. The outbreak follows disruptions to routine immunisation in 2024 and 2025 when the country was facing political turmoil. Bangladesh has recorded over 166,000 suspected measles cases.
