US forces that first invaded Iraq in 2003 complete withdrawal process

The US military announced on Wednesday that it had completed the withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq. The US invaded Iraq in 2003 to topple Saddam Hussein and withdrew in 2011, but returned three years later at Iraq's request to fight the Islamic State group. Washington and Baghdad agreed in 2024 to end the US military mission in Iraq.
