Liquor shops, bars to remain shut on Maha Ashtami in West Bengal

Liquor shops and bars will remain closed across West Bengal on Maha Ashtami during the Durga Puja celebrations, CM Suvendu Adhikari announced. DJ music has also been banned during festivities and processions. The CM also announced a grant of ₹1 lakh for Puja committees along with free electricity and a waiver of the fee for mandatory fire safety licences.
