India has imposed a phased ban on import of 405 strategically important defence items to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and promote domestic defence manufacturing. The list covers equipment, systems, components and spares linked to platforms like Su-30MKI jet, MRSAM missile system and warships. The move has an estimated business potential of ₹3,070 crore.

Lucknow startup launches India's first jet-powered loitering munition from a car, shares video

Lucknow-based Kawa UAV, operating under HoverIt, launched India's first jet-powered loitering munition from a car and shared the video. The indigenously-developed drone, Divyastra Mk3, was developed and built in just one year, has no foreign critical systems and runs on an India-made engine. "This is more than a flight. This is Atmanirbhar Bharat in action," the startup said.

Su-30 pilot battled failure to land safely, gets Shaurya Chakra

With a trainee onboard, a Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft suffered a catastrophic systems failure resulting in the aircraft and its crew experiencing aerodynamic forces and physical stress well beyond normal limits. The pilot-in-command demonstrated exceptional situational awareness and managed to land safely. For this, Squadron Leader Sudhir Kumar was decorated with Shaurya Chakra on Independence Day.

NIA arrests key conspirator in illegal explosives seizure case

India plans to join 6th-gen fighter jet development programme headed by France

The Defence Ministry has initiated efforts to co-join the 6th-generation fighter aircraft development programme, Future Combat Air System, spearheaded by the French government, a parliamentary panel has said. The panel has sought the roadmap for acquisition of such aircraft from the ministry. It recommended the ministry take forward the process for developing and acquiring 6th generation jets.

Ex-CDS General Anil Chauhan has revealed Pakistan called Indian DGMO's hotline for ceasefire on the morning of May 10, 2025 during Operation Sindoor, but India deliberately kept it waiting until later that afternoon. The reason was that half of India's planned strikes were yet to take place. He said India was determined to achieve its military objectives before ceasefire.
