US President Donald Trump announced a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine from May 9 to May 11, saying both sides also agreed to carry out a large prisoner swap. "The Celebration in Russia is for Victory Day but, likewise, in Ukraine, because they were also a big part...of World War II...This request was made directly by me," Trump added.

Addressing reporters after a military parade in Moscow marking the Soviet victory in World War II, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he thinks Russia's conflict with Ukraine is coming to an end. Putin also said he would be willing to negotiate new security arrangements for Europe. This comes after Trump announced a three-day ceasefire between the two countries.

The end of Russia-Ukraine conflict is "truly near", Russia spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said. "The humanitarian ceasefire has ended and special military operation continues, but it can stop at any moment as soon as Ukraine and Zelenskyy take responsibility and make the necessary decision," he added. "What decision needs to be made is well known in Ukraine," he further said.

Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Russian regions, including capital Moscow, Russian authorities said on Sunday. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defences destroyed 81 drones headed for Moscow, making it the largest attack on the capital in over a year. Russia's defence ministry said 556 drones had been downed over the country overnight and into the morning.

An Indian worker has been killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's capital Moscow, Embassy of India in Russia confirmed. "The embassy condoles the loss of life and is working with the company management and local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the workers," it said. The embassy said its officials visited the location and met the injured workers.

Russia on Sunday used hypersonic ballistic missile Oreshnik to strike Ukranian capital Kyiv. Oreshnik missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, can cover distances between 3,000 and 5,500 kilometres. The missile travels at 10 times the speed of sound, Mach 10, which makes it almost impossible for interceptors to destroy it.

Russia sent a warning to European nations after a Russian drone attacked Romania. Deputy Chairman of Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said, "Citizens of EU nations, you should realise your authorities...unilaterally entered into war with Russia. So...don't be surprised by anything. The peaceful sleep is over." This comes as NATO said it's ready to defend every inch of Allied territory.

A Ukrainian drone hit the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, which is Europe's largest, Russia's state nuclear energy company Rosatom said on Saturday. Rosatom added that the kamikaze combat drone struck the turbine hall building of a power unit. "The explosion caused no damage to the primary equipment, however, it tore a hole in the turbine hall wall," it further said.

A picture has surfaced from the largest nuclear plant in Europe showing a hole in a power unit at the facility. The hole was caused by a drone attack that Russia claimed was carried out by Ukraine. The chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, expressed "serious concern" over the attack.

Reacting to Ukraine's drone attack on Europe's largest nuclear plant, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Ukraine is acting like a "monkey with a grenade". Zakharova added that Russia hopes the West will eventually realise that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's actions threaten them as well. The attack caused a hole in a power unit at the plant.

In what he described as an "extremely vile" attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a Russia drone hit a storage facility for spent nuclear fuel near Chernobyl power plant. The strike significantly damaged a fuel-reception building metres away from where "large amount of nuclear material" is stored, the International Atomic Energy Agency said.

Russia launched its heaviest air attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv in two weeks as it bombed several high-rise apartment buildings and a UNESCO World Heritage site, leaving at least four people dead. The attack damaged electricity lines, leaving around 140,000 residents without power. Russian strikes also targeted Kharkiv, killing four emergency service rescuers and one municipal official.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that G7 leaders agreed at a summit in France that Russia was not winning its war in Ukraine. Zelenskyy further said that the leaders discussed additional sanctions to bring Russia to the negotiating table. Earlier, Zelenskyy claimed he offered to meet Putin at G7 Summit in France, however, Russia denied the claim.

Ukraine struck a key oil refinery in Russia's capital Moscow on Thursday morning, in second such attack this week, officials said. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that several drones had hit the Moscow Oil Refinery and added that four dozen drones heading towards the city were downed. Visuals showed massive fire at the facility after the attack.

Over 500 flights were cancelled, delayed or diverted at several airports in Moscow after the Russian capital was hit by one of the largest Ukrainian attacks since the start of the war. Thousands of passengers are stranded after authorities imposed temporary restrictions on air traffic. Around 1,000 drones and four cruise missiles were intercepted, according to Russia's Defence Ministry.

The massive lid of an oil storage tank was flown off as Ukraine attacked an oil refinery in Russia's Moscow, with a video surfacing on social media. This was Ukraine's second attack on the oil refinery this week. Plumes of black smoke were seen along the Moscow skyline and all four of the city's airports temporarily suspended operations.

Ukraine's Parliament has voted to extend martial law in the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy first declared martial law on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its war on Ukraine. Parliamentary and presidential elections, which were last held in Ukraine in 2019, are banned under martial law. Russia has repeatedly questioned Zelenskyy's legitimacy after his term ended in 2024.

Russia launched what Ukraine described as the largest ballistic missile attack on Kyiv since the start of war in 2022. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched more than 40 missiles of various types, most of them targeting Kyiv, along with 120 attack drones overnight. The attack killed at least one person and injured 16 others.

Ukraine attacked Russian capital Moscow and the surrounding region with 400 drones overnight, wounding 10 people and setting multiple buildings on fire, officials said on Monday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country hit logistical facilities and an oil depot in the region of the Russian capital. Most of the drones were neutralised by Russian air defence systems.

A sailor from Yamunanagar district was killed after a merchant vessel he was serving on came under a missile attack while leaving the Ukrainian port of Odesa on July 19. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh Bath, a resident of Panjeton village in Yamunanagar. He was among the 17 crew members on board the merchant vessel Golden Leo.
